Slaughterhouse wastewater reuse and nutrient recovery
17 January 2018
Water2REturn is a project that is co-funded by the European Commission on the topic of water reuse and nutrient recovery. By adopting a circular economy approach, the project proposes a viable, cross-sectoral, and full-scale demonstration process to treat slaughterhouse wastewater using a novel combination of technologies and processes to maximisie the extraction of valuable products from wastewater. The project is aimed at recovering nutrients from slaughterhouse wastewater to turn them into value-added products for the agrochemical industry and then returning them to the soil as organic fertilisers for crops.

Please find HERE the link to the press release of the last meeting.

With this objective, Water2REturn is launching several questionnaires to engage relevant stakeholders. There are 5 questionnaires, each addressing different stakeholders; farmers, the slaughtering industry, the fertilizer industry, wastewater treatment industry, and consumers/NGOs.

The aim behind these questionnaires is to build a community of relevant people around Water2REturn with the purpose of facilitating discussion and fostering dialogue on cross-cutting challenges identified by the project.

All the requested information will remain confidential and for the sole use of Water2REturn project.

The questionnaire will take 10 minutes to fill in and it is available in 4 languages.
